Overview: What is CNC Turning?

Understanding the Process
The core of CNC Turning? It’s the act of spinning a workpiece, either vertically or horizontally, while a stationary shaping instrument elegantly moves around it. The material is strategically removed using a subtractive method until the desired geometry unfolds.

Unveiling Multifaceted Operations
There’s a universe of possibilities within a single live tooling lathe. From facing to threading, knurling to drilling, and even more intricate processes like boring and taper turning. However, each unique operation might need a tool change, subtly influencing cost and set-up time.

Undoubtedly Efficient Workflow
Once the marvel of CNC Turning completes its choreography, the piece is liberated from its stock, awaiting further refinement. The CNC lathe stands poised, ready to unleash its magic once again, with almost no pause in between.

Types Of CNC Lathes

Uplift Your Production with 2-axis CNC Lathes
Primarily used, the 2-axis CNC lathes offer a user-friendly interface for straightforward operations. This is your go-to machine for those who are just starting or need uncomplicated turning.

Unveil Precision with Swiss-type lathes
Uniquely designed for perfection, Swiss-type lathes stand out with their guide bushing mechanism. This ensures that material is fed accurately, allowing tools to cut up close, making them unparalleled for slender CNC lathe parts and micromachining. Plus, their utility is upped with some versions boasting a secondary CNC mill tool head. This unique combination unarguably makes Swiss-type lathes unbeatable for multitasking without shifting your workpiece, thereby uplifting the cost-effectiveness immensely.

Upsides Of CNC Turning
Much like CNC mills, CNC lathes are crafted with users in mind. They are effortlessly set for high repeatability, making them undeniably suitable for diverse projects, from rapid prototypes to bulk production. Delve more profound, and uncover multi-axis CNC turning centers, making them unmistakably a cost-effective choice for intricate designs that traditionally demand multiple machines or tool changes.

CNC General Tolearances

Description General Tolerance
Distance Dimensions For features of size (Length, width, height, diameter) and location (position, concentricity, symmetry) +/- 0.005 in.
Orientation and Form Dimensions 0-12 in +/- 0.005 in, Angularity 1/2 degree.
Edge Condition Sharp edges will be broken and deburred by default. Critical edges that must be left sharp should be noted and specified on a print.

The Process Flow & Duration Estimation

Please note that the final cost depends on the customized service you require, the specifications of the raw materials used, the relevant national laws, and the distance of transportation. Take the example of booking a tall container of products:

Step 1: Drawing Design (within 1 day)

Designers use CAD to quickly as well as accurately modify designs to meet the desired specifications, ensuring that the final product meets the required specifications quickly and accurately.

Step 2: Product Proofing (1-2 days)

Product proofing is an essential part of the manufacturing process that can help businesses ensure the quality and consistency of their products while minimizing risks and costs associated with defects or errors in production.

Step 3: Bulk Manufacturing (1-3 days)

Once the specifications and quality of the product are confirmed to be in order, it is ready for mass production.

Step 4: Shipping (3-5 days)

Once the products arrive at their destination, you will receive an alert. You can plan how to collect your shipped goods.
