A relief cut exposes bare steel, which compromises the part&#8217;s corrosion resistance if post-process touch-ups are not applied. Because material batches vary, we do not recommend applying universal fixed correction factors without validating them through test bends on the shop floor.<\/p><h3 id=\"actual-bend-radius-and-tooling\" class=\"atx\">Actual Bend Radius and Tooling<\/h3><p>A CAD model assumes a perfect theoretical radius, but the actual radius formed on the shop floor depends on the bending method and the specific tooling used.<\/p><p>Most precision sheet metal is formed using air bending. In air bending, the actual inside radius is primarily determined by the width of the lower V-die opening, not just the punch tip radius.
